The Sreten Church, dedicated to Alexander Nevsky, is beautifully situated on a hill in the southern part of the city, opposite the road leading to the "Botik." About 300 meters away, to the east, south, and west, are the monasteries: Trinity-Danilov, Fedorovsky, and Goritsky, which now serve as a historical, architectural, and artistic museum-reserve. Unfortunately, there is no information on whether there was another church here before the 18th century. It is likely that with the abolition of monastic lands, the need for a parish church for local residents arose.

In the mid-18th century, a wooden church dedicated to Alexander Nevsky was built here. In 1785, at the request of parishioners and priests, the Sreten Church with the chapel of Alexander Nevsky was erected in stone. The architecture of the temple is traditional: to the west, it is adjoined by a one-story refectory with a bell tower, and to the east, a semicircular apse. The dome rests on a massive octagon, topped with an elegant cupola. Among the treasures kept in the Sreten Church in the 19th century were pearl decorations, "gold and silver embroidered" satin veils, and altar crosses from the 18th century with holy relics. Special attention is drawn to the Gospel of 1701 with an inscription about its creation by Moscow residents for the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The staff of the Sreten Church included a priest and a psalmist, with their maintenance costing about 700 rubles a year. The church owned 30 desyatinas of arable land, which was rented out. The parish counted 385 men and 404 women. In May 1919, Priest Viktor Sergievsky and residents of the surrounding villages signed an agreement with the local authorities to use the Sreten Church amid revolutionary changes. In 1922, they were forced to hand over 8 silver items to the Treasury, including a cross, a gilded chalice, and other church belongings. The remaining items were valued at 8505 rubles. In the late 1930s, the church was closed and only resumed operations in the late 1980s. Some of its ancient treasures, such as wedding crowns and a cross from the 18th-19th centuries, have been preserved in the Pereslavl Museum. Today, just as it was over two hundred years ago, the Sreten Church is clearly visible from afar and, along with the ensembles of nearby monasteries, creates a picturesque panorama of the southern part of Pereslavl.
