Next to the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God is the five-domed Church of the Smolensk Mother of God, built between 1793 and 1804. Although it appears quite simple from the outside, the interior dazzles with the splendor of the five-tiered carved baroque iconostasis of the 18th century. The walls and ceilings of the temple are adorned with well-preserved paintings from the late 19th century. The skillfully executed artwork, imitating stucco and architectural elements, enhances the impression of wealth and opulence of the interior decoration of this modest-looking monument.
