The Transfiguration Church, located on Penouza, is a stone parish building. It has three altars: the main one dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, and two in warm chapels, in honor of the Sign of the Mother of God and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church was built in 1822 through the efforts of parishioners and benefactors. The Holy Cross with particles of holy relics is kept in the church. The church land covers 55 desyatins and 291 square sazhen. There are five church houses on the territory: for the priest, for the psalmist, for the parish school, and for the caretaker. The church's own capital amounts to 275 rubles in tickets. A wooden chapel is located near the church fence on the eastern side. The village is situated on an elevation by the Penouza River. There is a parish school in the village, and a library is available at the Kulizhsky volost administration. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist, and the parish capital in securities amounts to 3954 rubles and 93 kopecks.
