Transfiguration Church in Spas-Podgorye

Фото 1
The church was built between 1808 and 1811 with funds from parishioners on the site of an old wooden church that was lost. The building is made of stone, has five domes, and features a tiered bell tower. In the mid-19th century, the temple was painted, and a six-tiered iconostasis with gilded columns was installed. The church has three altars: in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Protection of the Holy Virgin, and the Assumption of the Holy Virgin. The icons of St. Martyr Blasius and the 'Transfiguration' were particularly venerated. In 1938, the church was closed, and during the Soviet era, its building housed a grain storage facility.
