The Transfiguration Church in the village of Spas-Penye was built of stone, as was its bell tower. Its construction in 1815 was made possible by the efforts of Semyon Fyodorovich Aladyin and the support of the parishioners. The church is surrounded by a stone fence with a wooden roof, and the cemetery is located within this enclosure. The church has three altars: the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. It is 62 versts from Kostroma and 50 versts from Kineshma.
