Фото 1
According to the Domozhirova land registry of 1629, there was a burial site with a wooden church of the Transfiguration of the Lord and a place for a church in honor of St. Onuphrius in the Chistyansky district. The first church was moved from 'Gorodishche' around 1720 and was one of the old wooden churches. By the second half of the 18th century, it had become dilapidated. In 1755, permission was granted to build a stone church of the Transfiguration of the Lord with an altar in honor of St. Onuphrius the Great. The altar church was consecrated on November 8, 1764. The stone temple had two altars: the Transfiguration altar and the Onuphrius altar. By 1765, the cold church was completed and covered with shingles.

The church is built in the shape of a ship, with one dome and three tiers. The altar is oriented to the northeast. The cross on the church is iron and gilded. Inside, the vault is divided by an arch, and there is one square pillar. The window frames are crenellated. The altar is separated by a stone wall with three openings. The narthex, which is square in shape, is also separated by a wall. The walls are made of brick and decorated with crenellations. The architecture of the church is an example of Vyatka Baroque. The warm church is single-altar, one-story, with an altar attached to the cold church. In 1765, an iconostasis with gilded carvings was installed in the cold church. The iconostasis depicts feasts, apostles, and prophets. The church contains ancient icons, and the walls are painted with images of princes and saints. The stone bell tower has three ancient bells. By 1773, the church was fully equipped. The consecration took place on June 12. The churches were heated by five Dutch stoves. In 1776, the parish included 44 villages with 157 households and 1,279 residents. Until 1800, the bell tower was wooden.

The construction of the stone bell tower began in 1795 and was completed in 1801. In 1802, a stone fence was built around the church. In 1841, a stone corridor was built, and in 1847, the church and bell tower were covered with iron. In 1856, the parish had 332 households with 2,755 residents. In 1866, a large bell was acquired. After the church was closed in 1939, the building was used as a warehouse, which helped preserve it. In 1995, the restoration of the church began, supported by Archbishop Chrisanth. In 1998, the church was consecrated, and in 2000, a Sunday school opened. In 2003, Metropolitan Chrisanth visited the church, appreciating the parish's achievements. In 2009, the altar in honor of St. Onuphrius the Great was consecrated, and in 2010, a parish library was opened. The church houses particularly revered icons, including the Athos icon of the Mother of God and the image of St. Panteleimon the Healer. Thanks to the help of parishioners, new bells were added to the bell tower.
