Mechasovo, a village in the Ardatov district, is home to a monument of urban planning and architecture, the Transfiguration Church. The church features the main cold altar of the Transfiguration of the Lord, as well as two chapels: the right one dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God of Vladimir, and the left one dedicated to Saint John Chrysostom. The church dates back to 1812, and its status as a monument was officially confirmed by an order dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD.
