The village of Fedyakovo was known for its location on the Kazan road, which connected Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan. This route has long been used by merchants and troops, and in 1812, numerous columns of captured French soldiers passed through it. According to legend, the small Church of the Transfiguration in Fedyakovo was built by these captured French soldiers.

In the 1930s, the church suffered the fate of many sanctuaries in our country: it was closed, and the clergy were shot. The building was used as a mill, a club, and a store, and then local residents began to dismantle it for bricks to build a water tower.

The revival of the church began in the mid-1990s. In 1995, the church was returned to the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, and in 1998, after restoration work began, regular services resumed.
