Information about the construction and builders of the first wooden church has not survived. It is only known that in 1793 a warm chapel was added in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. According to a report from 1849, the church was wooden with a similar bell tower and was noted for its sturdiness. Metric books were kept from 1782, and the church itself was warm and very beautiful.

Since 1873, a stone temple has been functioning in the Chernolesskaya Desert, which retained its former name. A warm left chapel was added in honor of Saint Alexius, a man of God. The parish of the church counted just over 1200 people living in 22 villages.

In the autumn of 1937, the temple was closed. Since 1993, it has been under the care of the Blagoveshchensky Men's Monastery of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, and since June 1, 2004, it has been transferred to the Borsky Deanery.
