The village of Bolshaya Talinka emerged thanks to the efforts of Saint Pitirim, who is considered the Heavenly patron of the Tambov land. After prolonged efforts, Saint Pitirim received the Talinskaya glade, as well as the adjacent arable lands and hayfields. The income from these lands supported the needs of the diocese, which contributed to the realization of the saint's plans and the development of charity. Soon, the villages of Bolshaya Talinka, Malaya Talinka, Kersha, and Kazyvanye arose here.

By 1701, there was already a chapel in the village of Bolshaya Talinka in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord, and soon the first Transfiguration church was built. In 1868, the villagers erected a new large wooden five-domed church with three altars: the main altar was dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, and the side altars were dedicated to Seraphim and Archangel.

In the 1930s, the church was closed, and in the 1950s, it was destroyed.

Half a century later, in 2007, the church was restored and consecrated anew.
