Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands in Gireyevo

Фото 1
The Church of the Sign in Perovo was built at the initiative of Prince Peter Alexeyevich Golitsyn in his estate. Around the same time, a little later, the construction of the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands began in the estate of his son in Gireyevo. Its construction was subject to a ban on stone building imposed by Peter I.

This small church has a similar four-leaf plan as the Sign Church in Perovo. Both churches are single-domed and originally did not have bell towers, although in the 19th century a wooden belfry was added to the Savior Church. The main difference between them lies in the decor: the Sign Church is richly decorated, while the Savior Church is characterized by modesty and simplicity, yet it represents an interesting example of the transition from Russian architecture to European.
