The village of Sliznevo is located in the Arzamas district. According to the order of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the rural Savior Church was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The church dates back to 1816. However, order 5-OD was revoked on October 20, 2014, by order No. 159, as reported by the State Heritage Protection Department of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904, the temple has a main cold altar with the image of the Savior Not Made by Hands, as well as two warm chapels: the right in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and the left in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow."
