The village of Malaya Yakshen, located in the Shatkovsky district, is known for its monument of urban planning and architecture, the Savior Church, built in 1862. The site is under state protection according to document No. 471. The church has a main cold altar with the image of the Savior Not Made by Hands, as well as chapels: the right one dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the left one in honor of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica. According to memories collected by Vladimir Muromtsev, local elders recount that before the war, the church was closed, the bell was removed, it was used for some time as a fire alarm, and then it was stolen.
