The church was built in 1771 through the efforts of the parishioners. The building is made of stone, as is the bell tower with the fence. The temple has three altars: the first in honor of the Smolensk Mother of God, the second in the name of Saint George the Great Martyr in the cold part of the church, and the third in honor of Saint Nicholas in the warm chapel. The parish includes the villages: Dudinskoye, Besongovo, Zhavoronki, Vyazovo, Vasil'tsevo, Aleksino, Berkaytsevo, Kozlovo, Menshikovo, Dedova Gora, Isaytsevo, Putilovo, Chazharovo, and Berezino. The village of Ustye is located at the confluence of the It' River with the Volga, 18 kilometers from Yaroslavl. In 1947, during the Soviet regime, the church was closed. The icons from the iconostasis and the walls were removed and destroyed. Few people participated in this sacrilege, and their fate, like the fate of all who destroyed churches, was tragic: they and their children did not die a natural death. During the Soviet years, the church building housed a warehouse, a bakery, a club for summer children's camps and dachas, where films were shown and discos were held. The vaults, walls, and altar parts were completely dismantled, and the cemetery fence was used for household needs. The cemetery was desecrated. In 2001, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and restoration work in the winter chapel began that same year. Services in the church resumed immediately after that.
