The village of Shrestino is located in the Arzamas district. In accordance with the order of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the village church was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The church dates back to 1890. However, according to the data from the State Office for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, this order lost its validity on October 20, 2014, based on order No. 159. The "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904 states that the stone church in Shrestino began construction in 1890, and the right chapel in the refectory was consecrated in the name of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian.
