Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in Mstera

Initially, the Mstera station and nearby settlements belonged to the Saryevo parish. The road there passed through the village of Vyazovka and then went several kilometers through the forest. During the Soviet era, after the churches were closed, the residents stopped using this road, and it became overgrown. When the church in Saryevo began to be restored, it turned out that the residents were too far from their parish, as the official road from Mstera to Saryevo is about 30 km. Therefore, it was decided to build a church directly in the settlement. The construction site was chosen to be as close to the cemetery on one side and located in the center of the station on the other. Nearby are a memorial complex in honor of the participants of the Great Patriotic War and the administration of the rural settlement. The church was decided to be built on the site of an old club that had already fallen into disrepair.

Construction began in 2005 in the style of tent churches of the 16th-17th centuries with elements of ancient Russian architecture. It was completed in 2007, and the church was consecrated in the same year.
