In the 16th century, the village was owned by the Yaroslavl Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery. The church was built between 1806 and 1810 with funds from the landowner P.Z. Lotov, the owner of the village of Koshcheeva, on the site of two lost wooden churches. It was constructed by serf peasants Alexei and Grigory Mikhailov.

The church is made of stone, with five domes and a tiered bell tower. The iconostasis was installed in 1810 and gilded in 1861. The painting of the church was completed in the 1860s. There are three altars in the church: in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, the holy princes Boris and Gleb, and Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the miracle worker. The Unmade Image of the Savior received special veneration. During the Soviet era, the church building was used as a warehouse. In 1998, it was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church.
