In 1908, a wooden church with five domes and a bell tower was built in the village, located on an elevation of the main street. The first priest was Father Veniamin Nikolaevich Aratsky. During the period of repression, he was sent to logging, where he died a martyr's death and was canonized among the New Martyrs of Nizhny Novgorod. After him, Father Sergey Ivanovich Krasovsky served, also recognized as an enemy of the people and executed. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and a kindergarten was placed in its building. During the Great Patriotic War, it housed German prisoners, and after the war, the building was converted into a grain storage facility. In the 1960s, the building was completely destroyed.

In 1995, an initiative group of residents from Bolshoye Mokroye raised the issue of reopening the church. In October of the same year, they appealed to district and local authorities with a request to allow the opening of the church. After receiving a blessing, they approached the local and district consumer cooperatives with a request to transfer the building of the former merchant house for the church. At that time, this building was used as a storage facility for the consumer cooperative. In the autumn of 1995, construction work began, carried out by local residents. People came in the evenings to work on the equipment and restoration of the church. In January 1996, the first service was held in the church.
