Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in Bogdanovo

The Smolensk church, built in 1813 by the efforts of the parishioners, is a stone parish church with a warm chapel in the refectory and a similar bell tower. It is surrounded by a stone fence and has two altars: the main, cold one is dedicated to the Smolensk Mother of God, while the warm chapel is dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church particularly honors a carved icon of Saint Nicholas in full height.

The church has a land plot of 88 desyatins and 851 square sazhen. On the territory, there are wooden buildings: a house for the priest, a house for the psalmist, and a church watchman's lodge. The church capital amounts to 200 rubles in bonds. In the village of Bogdanovo, there are 63 men and 74 women; in the village of Matveykovo, 26 men and 39 women; and in the village of Pishalino, 29 men and 38 women. The total number of parishioners is 118 men and 151 women. The villages are located 1 and 3 versts from the church.

The village is situated in hilly terrain by the Soti River. A ministerial one-class school operates at the church. The staff includes positions for a priest and a psalmist, and the parish capital amounts to 9912 rubles in securities.
