The first church in the village of Bakhilovo was built in 1913. By 1900, there was a wooden chapel here, which was affiliated with the Protection Church in the village of Morkvashi. However, it stood for just over 20 years and was completely destroyed in 1937. Now, on the site of the former church, there is a school sports ground. In 2009, the villagers proposed to restore the parish in Bakhilovo, and the local authorities provided a building of the former food block of the agricultural association, located near the military memorial, for worship. The building was renovated, received a new four-pitched roof with a dome, and the interiors were updated. In the same year, the new church, consecrated in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, held its first services.
