In 1999, at the initiative of four young families from Rybinsk and former Muscovite Alla Igorevna Rysenko, who left her job at a Moscow research institute and moved to the Braitovsky district for a rural life and a passion for making ancient folk costumes, a chapel was laid in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh. This took place with the blessing of Archbishop Mikhail of Yaroslavl and Rostov and under the spiritual guidance of the dean of the Braitovsky district, Archpriest Anatoly Denisov. A glass container with birch bark was placed in the foundation of the chapel, inscribed with the words: “This chapel was laid in the year 1999 on the first day of September in honor of the venerable igumen of All Russia, Sergius of Radonezh, as a sign of the beginning of the transformation and revival of Russia.”

In 2001, the church was consecrated. Two benefactors from Moscow, interested in this project, gifted the parish six bells. At the same time, a ten-meter three-tiered bell tower was erected. Today, it is the smallest church in the Yaroslavl region, located on a high bank of the Sit River and included in the tourist route “Sit Ring.”
