The church was built in 1792 with funds from the parishioners. In 1862, the refectory was rebuilt thanks to a donation from the peasant Bukharin.

The church has three altars: in honor of St. Sergius, the abbot of Radonezh; the Holy Life-Giving Trinity; and the Prophet Elijah.

According to tradition, the hermitage was founded by St. Sergius of Radonezh. Initially, there was a wooden church dedicated to St. Paraskeva Friday.

During the Soviet period, the church was not closed.

According to parishioners, after the revolution, the authorities allowed only one church to remain in the village of Sergievsky. There were two churches in Sergievsky: the Sergius Church and the Nikolsky Church. The parishioners chose to preserve the Sergius Church because it had a bell tower. They did not yet know that soon the ringing of bells would be prohibited.
