Agrafenina Pustyn, also known as Agro-Pustyn, is a village in the Ryazan district and the center of a rural district with a population of 604 people as of 1997. It is located by Lake Studyonoye and on the left bank of the Oka River near Lake Kutskoe.

The name of the village is associated with a female monastery founded by Grand Duchess Agrafena Agrippina Vasilyevna, born Princess Babicheva-Drutska, daughter of Prince Vasily, who was the wife of Grand Prince Ivan Vasilyevich of Ryazan. The Pustyn is first mentioned in a document dated December 1, 1506, which granted the abbess of the Agrafena monastery, in the world Glebova, the right to own the village of Belynichi from Tatarinov and lands by the Osetr River near Zaraysk.

In 1761, the first Sergiev church was built in the village, which was renovated and expanded in 1839. An article titled "Word on the Consecration of the Newly Created Temple" was published in the "Ryazan Diocesan News" on February 1, 1892, mentioning that the church in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated on September 30, 1891. Its construction was carried out through voluntary donations under the guidance of the local priest Afanasy Arbekov. The consecration was conducted by the local archpriest Nikolai Dobromyslov, assisted by eight other priests in the presence of a large crowd.

According to the clerical records of 1915, the church was built in 1891 through the efforts of parishioners and donors. It was made of stone, with a bell tower whose construction began in 1903. The church had three altars: the main one in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and two in the refectory, in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Church holidays were celebrated on October 10 and July 5, and processions were held on the 10th Friday after Easter.

The parish had a two-class ministerial school opened in 1874 and a one-class zemstvo school opened in 1887. By 1915, 216 boys and 158 girls were being educated in them.

No information about the closure of the church has been found yet, as many churches were closed without legal grounds. It is only known that in 1922, valuables were confiscated from the church to aid the starving Volga region.
