The first church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Novosergievka was built in 1887, even before the beginning of the 20th century. The village, previously known as "Tevkelev Brod," was renamed in his honor. The church was wooden, measuring 15 fathoms in length, 6 fathoms in width, and reaching a height of 9 fathoms and 1 arshin to the cornice. The temple had one dome and a three-tiered bell tower, while the iconostasis reached 14 arshins in length and 16 arshins in height. A church parish school operated at the church. In 1937, during the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, the church was destroyed, and a club was built in its place, which still functions today. Eyewitnesses recall that the church resisted destruction for a long time, despite the efforts of tractors and people, while parishioners prayed and cried. Currently, a cross has been erected and consecrated near this site. Years later, a place was allocated in the village for a prayer house, and in 1998, the foundation stone was consecrated. The construction of the church lasted 11 years. In the summer of 2007, Archpriest Leonid Antipov consecrated the bells, and in the winter of the same year, Bishop Valentin consecrated and installed the domes. Until spring 2009, interior finishing work was underway, and on April 24, 2009, Metropolitan Valentin of Orenburg and Buzuluk held a solemn archpastoral service with the consecration of the church. In 2010, Priest Alexey Dolgalev became the rector, who continues to serve and pray for his parishioners. A baptismal church has been arranged in the basement, and a church parish Sunday school operates. Regular services and sacraments are held in the church, and the ringing of the bells before each service spreads over the village, inviting the faithful to prayer and glorifying God.
