Church of Sergius of Radonezh in Moseitsevo

Фото 1
The stone rural church was built in 1787 by D. V. Oshanin and has three altars: of St. Sergius of Radonezh, St. Nicholas, and the prophet Elijah. The church owns 36 desyatins of land, and its parish includes five villages.

One verst from Moseitsevo stands a stone chapel pillar, where, according to legend, a wooden church once stood. Near the pillar, one can see traces of an old cemetery.

Since 1875, a rural school has been operating in a specially equipped house.

According to popular legend, in the 11th century, a tower of the high priest Kichi stood on this site. His young son was baptized by St. Leontius, received the name Moses, and was ordained first as a deacon and then as a priest. In the 15th century, this place was owned by Prince I. I. Buynosov-Bolshoy, and his nephew, Prince F. I. Buynos, built a church here.
