In the early 20th century, there was a chapel in the center of Levino dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh, which was completely destroyed in the 1930s. In 2003, educator and public figure Boris Anatolyevich Batmanov initiated the construction of a new church on this site, also dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh. The project was financed by Moscow entrepreneur S.P. Kozubenko, and the design was developed by Murom architect N.A. Bespalov. In early February 2007, gilded domes with crosses were installed on the church.
