The Church of Sergius of Radonezh in Beloye

Фото 1
In this place stood the Sergiev Church, built and consecrated in honor of Sergius of Radonezh. Next to it, a house for the priest was constructed. In the early 20th century, the priest here was Nikolai Figurov. The parish included 22 villages: M. Varakino, Karpunikha, Okhotino, Gryaznovo, Zdemerevo, Igoshino, Motosniki, Lomki, Boyarskaya, Varlashevo, Bubnovo, B. Varakino, Petrunino, Firsovo, Belozery, Volkovo, Lamino, Gladyshi, Zherebtsy, Tokari, Zhulinо, and Samsygino.

On the eve of the war, the church was closed. In 1936, the bells were removed from the bell tower, of which there were eight. Logs were placed under the windows to lower the bells. The largest bell broke upon falling, while the others were taken away in an unknown direction. One of the bells was purchased for the fire department. The church cemetery functioned until 1936. Priest Nikolai Figurov remained in the village until the end of his life.

In the 1940s, a two-story school was built in the village of Beloye. Old church walls were used for its construction. The remnants of patterned window frames are still visible in the southern wall of the school.
