A bright sunny day on March 30, 2015, became significant for the Sudogda deanery and the entire district. Metropolitan Evlogy of Vladimir and Suzdal consecrated the cornerstone for the future church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Baraki, as well as a chapel in honor of the holy righteous Peter and Fevronia of Murom in the village of Beg.

The village of Baraki, once a roadside settlement, has long grown into a large community. The residents dreamed of having their own church, as not everyone found it convenient to travel to services in Vladimir or its surroundings. They repeatedly appealed to the diocese for permission to build. Last year, they received the blessing of Bishop Evlogy to erect a church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh, whose 700th anniversary was celebrated in 2014.

The laying of the new church became a grand and special celebration. Despite Great Lent, the priests were dressed in pure white garments, the water blessing bowl sparkled in the sun, and the consecrated oil shimmered. The bishop sprinkled the cornerstone with holy water and oil, and then placed it into the foundation niche himself. A wooden cross was erected at the future altar site by the priests of the Sudogda deanery who served alongside the metropolitan.
