In the city of Gorokhovets, there is a highly revered church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, which operates under the Sretensky Monastery. Originally, it was a wooden and warm church. The first mentions of it date back to 1678, when it was described in census books. Currently, there is no exact information about who built the temple. The well-known researcher of architectural traditions in Gorokhovets, A.A. Tits, believes that the church was erected in the late 17th century. The interior of the church has preserved a unique tiled stove from the 17th century, as well as two stoves faced with tiles.

The church is located on the main axis of the Sretensky Monastery, immediately behind the Sretensky Church. It is a three-part brick building with varying heights of the refectory, main volume, and apse. In plan, the church appears as an elongated rectangular two-story structure standing on a high basement, which is used as a utility floor.

The central part of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is elevated and covered with a vaulted ceiling with a metal roof on two slopes. A small onion dome crowns the church. A refectory, covered with a barrel vault, adjoins from the west, while a three-part apse on a rectangular base is located on the east side.

The external decoration of the church looks concise, making it similar to other churches in Gorokhovets. In the refectory, there is a tiled stove with a facade faced with polychrome tiles. The main volume is separated from the altar part by a wall with narrow arched openings directed towards the altar.

The image of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is simple yet strict. The smoothness of the walls plays a leading role in the artistic design.
