In 1882, the construction of the igumen hospital building, a large three-story structure, began. In the eastern part of this building, a church was arranged, which was closely connected to it. The church was intended for the elderly and sick who were unable to move, allowing them to hear the services from their rooms located near the church. The church had two levels: the lower one was on the first floor, while the upper one was on the second and third floors. The lower church, dedicated to Seraphim of Sarov, served as a burial place for the benefactors of the monastery, while the upper church, dedicated to Sergius of Radonezh, was used for daily services.
