Next to the Church of Peter the Metropolitan and the Vladimir Cathedral, on Proyezdnaya Street, there is a building that, despite changes, can still be recognized as a church. This two-story structure made of red brick, decorated in the Neo-Russian style, with a place for an icon on the pediment, several friezes, a richly decorated porch, and a wide polygonal apse, has preserved most of its elements.

Documents from the State Archive of the Vladimir Region contain information about the construction of the complex of buildings for the Administrative Offices with a prison in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Vladimir Province. On February 11, 1839, the Main Administration of Transport and Public Buildings decided to build a complex of stone buildings for the Administrative Offices and the prison castle in Pereslavl-Zalessky. By November 1, 1840, the construction of the Administrative Offices building, two wings, the prison castle, and the fence was completed. On October 14, 1841, the complex was handed over to the Pereslavl town governor Dolgov according to the inventory.

On July 22, 1900, the day of the name day of Empress Maria Feodorovna, a church was laid at the local prison castle in Pereslavl-Zalessky, and a children's shelter building was consecrated. The director of the prison department, hereditary honorary citizen S.P. Pavlov, supported this initiative and took on the expenses for the church's establishment. The church would be dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh. The church laying ceremony and the consecration of the shelter house were conducted by Cathedral Archpriest Father A.A. Diligenksy, assisted by the priest, the law teacher of the children's shelter Father A.F. Smelchakov, and cathedral priest O.V. Vinogradov.

The construction of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was completed in 1906, according to other sources, in 1911. An iconostasis in the Art Nouveau style was installed in the church. In the early 1920s, the church was closed, and the domes above it and the altar were destroyed. The building was repurposed for a branch of Sberbank.

On June 12, 2010, the church building was gratuitously transferred to the Yaroslavl Diocese by the decision of the Pereslavl City Duma and the decree of the mayor. The documents were handed over to Archbishop Kirill of Yaroslavl and Rostov during the celebrations dedicated to Russia Day and the memory of the holy and righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky, who was born in Pereslavl.
