The Holy Seraphim Church was built from 1991 to 1999 with funds raised by local residents and Muscovites. The architectural project was developed by Archimandrite Augustine Gromov, who was serving as a priest in Kurlo at that time. The ceiling painting of the church was done in the 18th-century style by Mikhail, the grandson of the famous artist Kazimir Malevich.
