Since the 1930s, there have been no churches left in the Privolzhsky district; all were destroyed. The same fate befell the Georgievskaya church in 1931, which was built in 1770 by order of Nikita Beketov, who was the Astrakhan governor-general from 1763 to 1794 and the owner of the village of Cherepahi, now known as Nachalovo.

The Georgievskaya church had historical significance, as it was visited multiple times by Field Marshal Alexander Suvorov along with his wife. In 1780, Empress Catherine II sent him to the Astrakhan province to lead the troops along the Volga. At the invitation of Governor-General Beketov, Suvorov lived in the village of Cherepaha for two years and prayed to the Rudnenskaya Icon of the Mother of God.

The revival of the church began three years ago. In May 2005, a solemn ceremony was held in the village of Nachalovo to consecrate the foundation of the church in honor of the Rudnenskaya Icon of the Mother of God, and a year later, the main dome of the church, which is being built on the site of the former Georgievskaya church, was consecrated.
