Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zolotkovo

Фото 1
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zolotkovo, painted in a delicate pink color, was recently built. It has become a bright accent among the gray industrial buildings of the glass factory that shape the landscape of the working settlement. The church, consisting of two tiers and without a refectory, with an attached bell tower, can be compared in size to cathedral churches. The pointed forms of the roof and the covering are a novelty for the Vladimir region, referencing the ancient Byzantine roots of Orthodoxy. However, the drum and helmet-shaped dome, as well as some asymmetry of the facades, continue the traditions laid down in the Assumption Cathedral of Vladimir. The white stone belt of the central drum resonates with similar elements of the Trinity Cathedral of the Assumption Alexandrov Sloboda and Moscow motifs. The red brick masonry, especially in the basement tier, raises some complaints about the quality of execution. The completion of the bell tower demonstrates elements of architectural incompleteness and stylistic simplifications. Perhaps these issues will be resolved as construction is completed, as some facades are still unpainted. Overall, the successful location, proportions of the church, and thoughtful height give it a festive and cheerful appearance, making the church solid, organic, and natural.
