The village of Urvanovo is located by Lake Urvanovskoye, 30 versts from the district town. In the land books of 1629 and 1630, it is mentioned as the property of the landowner family Durasev and the stolnik of Patriarch Filaret Myasoedov. The village has an old church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, built by previous landowners, and another, unblessed church. Next to the church are the priest Nikolai's yard, the empty place of the sexton, and the empty yard of the deacon. The village also has landowner yards, 5 peasant yards, and 9 yard of the impoverished.

According to the salary books of 1676, the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is recorded in Urvanovo, with the yard of priest Afanasy. The parish includes 9 noble yards, 20 peasant yards, and 5 impoverished yards. The further history of the church remains unknown until 1828, when a fire destroyed almost the entire village, including the church. However, some icons, such as the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the Murom Wonderworkers, were saved. The altar Gospel of 1661, the teaching Gospel of 1721, and other liturgical books also survived.

After the fire, a stone church was built in Urvanovo; the refectory was consecrated in 1833, and the main temple in 1852. In 1869, a stone bell tower was erected next to the temple. The church has three altars: the main one in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the refectory, in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and St. Sergius of Radonezh. The interior decoration of the church, including icons, utensils, and vestments, is quite rich.

According to the staff, the church has a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. Their maintenance is provided from various sources: from land, services, and needs, amounting to about 975 rubles a year. The houses of the clergy members are located on church land. The land associated with the church includes: estate land, 3 desyatinas, arable land, 25, and haymaking land, 30 desyatinas.

The parish includes the village and the villages of Azovka, Elina, Onokhina, and Shokhina, where the clerical records list 341 households, 1362 men, and 1357 women. In the village of Urvanovo, there are two public schools: a zemstvo school since 1881 and a church-parish school since 1892.
