The village of Soroguzhino is located 10 versts from Yuryev and 73 versts from Vladimir. In the 15th century, it is mentioned in documents as a state property and remained under the palace administration until almost the end of the 17th century. At the end of this century, according to the patriarchal books of 1691, the village was transferred to Boyar Peter and Okolnichy Vasily Lopukhin. In the second half of the 18th century, the owner became Count Orlov-Chesmensky, and in the early 19th century, ownership passed to his daughter, Countess Anna Alexeyevna Orlova-Chesmensky.

In the 17th century, the patriarchal books mention a wooden tent church in Soroguzhino, dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with an octagonal bell tower and three bells. The current stone church with a similar bell tower was built in 1808 with funds from the parishioners. It has two altars: a cold one in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a warm side altar in honor of Saint John Chrysostom.

Church documents have been preserved in full: copies of the metric books since 1802, confession lists since 1832, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1848 are kept in the church. The land holdings of the church include 3 desyatinas of homestead land, 5 desyatinas and 500 square fathoms of haymaking land, and 41 desyatinas and 1430 square fathoms of arable land. Plans and boundary books for the haymaking and arable land, dated 1784, are also kept in the church. According to the staff schedule, the clergy includes a priest and a psalmist. The annual income of the clergy amounts to 475 rubles: 25 rubles from the bread collection, 300 rubles from the land, and 150 rubles for sacramental services. The priest lives in the church house, and the psalmist in his own, both houses are located on church land. The parish includes one village with 96 households and a population of 387 men and 427 women.
