The village of Malakhovo is located 16 versts from the city of Vladimir. Already in the early 17th century, there was a church here, as evidenced by a record in the patriarchal accounting books, which mentions the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Malakhovo in 1628. At the end of the 17th century, the church was rebuilt and consecrated again in 1699 in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Currently, a stone temple stands in Malakhovo, built no later than the last quarter of the 18th century, as the chapel added later was consecrated in 1790. The temple is designed in the style of 18th-century churches with an octagonal elevation in the center. The cross on the church is iron, pierced, eight-pointed, with the inscription "Iis. Chr.", and under the cross is depicted a crescent moon.

From 1887 to 1889, the old chapel was expanded. There is a stone bell tower at the church, built in 1831. The church's iconostasis has six tiers with twisted columns, and on the northern and western walls, there are two slabs, the inscriptions on which, unfortunately, have been painted over. The church has three altars: the main one in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, above which hangs a silk canopy with tassels, and two chapels in honor of the Sign of the Mother of God and the holy prophet and baptizer John the Forerunner.

Among the church's valuables is an altar silver cross with relics of several saints. The church documents have been well preserved: copies of the metric books since 1797 and confession rolls since 1824. The land for the clergy near the church comprises 34 desyatinas, including homestead, arable, and haymaking plots. There are plans and boundary books for the land.

According to the staff, the clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. The income of the clergy is about 520 rubles a year, coming from the parish and land. The clergy live in their own houses on church land. The parish includes the village of Malakhovo, the village of Vnukovo, and the villages: Olgina, Novikovka, Pilnikov, Botulino, Smolino, Orinki, Makhlino, and the hamlet of Oblomovka; according to the clerical records, there are 525 men and 550 women. Since 1884, a church-parish school has been operating in the village, for which a separate building was constructed with the church's and parishioners' funds in memory of the salvation of the royal family on October 17, 1888.
