Фото 1
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is the central structure of the complex and an important architectural dominant in the village. In the first half of the 19th century, porches were added to its entrances. This is one of the outstanding monuments of the Shuya district, distinguished by its traditional composition of volumes and rich tile decor. The temple belongs to the type of pillarless structures with a refectory and bell tower, continuing the traditions of Vladimir-Suzdal architecture of the 17th century.

The main square and the refectory are close in size in plan, but the refectory is significantly lower. The church is given a special appearance by two tiers of kokoshniks that crown the two-light square. The lower tier is treated as an attic, while the upper, reduced and with cut corners, serves as a pedestal for the five domes. The large altar apse on the eastern side has a weak three-part division. The tall tented bell tower consists of square and octagonal volumes, almost equal in height, each divided into tiers. Tents are located on the sides of the lower tier of the square. The arched porch of the main entrance with a figured roof opens onto the line of the fence. The corners of the main volumes are highlighted by bundles of columns. The facades are completed with wide cornices, especially richly decorated is the cornice of the square, which consists of rows of edging, saws, and towns, supported by four large kokoshniks with toothed archivolts. The central axes of the side facades are emphasized by perspective keel-shaped portals with melons and beads, as well as niches of kiots above them. An arched covered porch with a hanging weight on two columns is attached to the northern portal. Arched windows with frames featuring columns and pointed frames of the architraves, recessed into the wall, are located on either side of the entrance. The upper windows are enclosed in assembled frames with comb-shaped finishes made of relief and smooth polychrome tiles depicting cherubs, symbols of passions, and plant ornamentation. The second-light windows, larger and rectangular, are located along two axes, but their axes do not coincide with the lower openings. The drums of the domed heads with small kokoshniks at the base are decorated with arcature-columnar belts, edging, and towns. The tiers of the tall bell tower are divided by belts and decorated with pilasters and strips that highlight the corners. The keel-shaped finishes of the archivolts of the ringing arches are embedded in triple kokoshniks located at the base of the faces of the tent with four tiers of windows. The internal space of the square is covered with a vaulted ceiling and connected to the altar by three arched openings, and to the refectory, by one wide opening. The apse is covered with a conch with vaults above three windows and a central arch, as well as deep niches in the eastern face of the supports, separating the entrances to the altar. In the refectory, the vault is also vaulted, with vaults.
