On July 10, 2011, Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas conducted the ceremony of laying the foundation for the church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Gagino. Before this event, he led the Divine Liturgy at a specially prepared site next to the future church.

On September 21, 2012, on the day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the first Divine Liturgy took place in the under-construction church in the village of Gagino in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which will be consecrated in honor of this event, by the blessing of Metropolitan Georgy. The service was led by the dean of the Boldinsky district, Archpriest Alexander Malafeev, assisted by priests Alexey Maltsev and Evgeny Kachkin. Many believers gathered for the liturgy.
