The village of Chaadaevo is located on the banks of the Vyzhigi River, 120 versts from Vladimir and 11 versts from Murom. Information about the Chaadaevo church is quite limited. It is known that in the 16th century, Chaadaevo was annexed to the Trinity-Sergius Monastery. In the land registry books of the Trinity estates for the years 1593-1594, it is mentioned "in the village there is the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built by the monastery and parishioners, with priest Pavel Ivanov, widowed priest Dmitry Yakovlev, sexton Martemyanov, and prosphora baker Solomonia serving at the church."

According to the local church chronicle, at the beginning of the 19th century, there was an old wooden church in Chaadaevo in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1804, the construction of a stone church began; the refectory was consecrated in 1807, and the main church was completed and consecrated in 1814. The church has two altars: the main one in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the refectory, in the name of the venerable Sergius of Radonezh.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. According to the staff, there is a priest and a psalmist serving at the church. Their maintenance is ensured by the services, sacramental rites, and income from arable land, amounting to up to 500 rubles per year. The houses of the clergy members are located on church land and belong to them. The parish includes only the village of Chaadaevo, where the clerical records list 286 households, 811 men, and 992 women. Since 1845, a public school has been operating in Chaadaevo, funded by the zemstvo.
