The first cold wooden church was built in 1744 and consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Five years later, a warm wooden church dedicated to the Meeting of the Lord appeared. A stone church with two altars was erected in 1814, as evidenced by the inscription on the cross. There is a legend that it was built by French prisoners of war. The altars were consecrated in 1819. The church was located 40 versts from the consistory in Nizhny Novgorod and 75 versts from the Spiritual Administration in Semyonovo. The parish had three schools: a church-parish school in Yamnovo and zemstvo schools in Belkino and Trutnevo. In difficult times, the residents of Belkino asked not to close the church, but they were given the condition to carry out repairs costing 30 thousand rubles in the shortest possible time. If it weren't for the summer work, the parishioners would have managed the repairs!

The church was closed in 1936. Activists from Yamnovo broke the bell tower's column, threw down the main bell, which sank halfway into the ground from its weight, smashed it into pieces, and took it away. The building was turned into a vegetable storage, and the access road was paved with crosses from the churchyard burials. Some icons were taken home by parishioners, and they are still kept by them. The destruction of the church was completed by the younger generation: children swung on the chain of the chandelier, breaking through the roof of the dome.

Seventy years later, in 2007, the restoration of the church began.
