The Church of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Zhivaykino was originally built in the second half of the 18th century, but by the end of the 19th century, it fell into disrepair. In 1889, parishioners erected a new, more spacious church with two altars, consecrated in honor of the Nativity of Christ and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This church functioned until 1931, when it was converted into a village club, as was common at the time. In the winter of 1984, the building completely burned down due to the negligence of workers who attempted to thaw frozen heating pipes using blowtorches. As a result, the church, which had stood for a century, was destroyed in a matter of hours.

In 2008, the villagers made an attempt to revive the church by installing a small log chapel in the center of the village. In 2014, a temporary home church was established in the village, where regular services are held. In 2015, the foundation of the burned church was cleared and restored, lost sections were filled in, and its overall level was leveled. In 2016, the laying of the brick base began, and materials for the walls of the restored church, which will fully match the dimensions of the previous one, were purchased. The construction of the walls began in February 2017.
