Since 2003, IK No. 4 has been operating as a strict regime colony for inmates convicted of serious and particularly serious crimes.

In addition to its impeccable service activities, the colony is known for its developed production infrastructure, where a wide range of goods for the national economy is manufactured.

In 1994, a prayer room was opened in IK No. 4, which soon could not accommodate all those wishing to attend. In 1997, at the initiative of the colony's leadership and with the active support of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Church of the Nativity of Christ was built and consecrated. Since then, Archbishop Evlogy of Vladimir and Suzdal has visited the church annually on Christmas and conducts festive services.
