The Church of the Nativity of Christ was built in 1833 by landowner E.V. Dashkova. This stone building is in the style of Russian classicism. The exact architect is unknown, but it is believed to have been either M.F. Korinfsky or V.P. Stasov. The church is located at the foot of Tsarev Kurgan and is considered one of the main examples of classicism architecture in the Samara region. Decembrist Alexei Vasilyevich Vedenyapin is buried near the church.

The church was served by the holy martyr Konstantin Sukhov, who was canonized in 2001. He defended Orthodoxy in the early years of Soviet power and was shot in 1918.

In 1931, the church was closed. Its premises housed a cultural center, a grain storage facility, and a chemical storage, and later the building was abandoned and fell into disrepair.

On January 12, 1989, at the request of the residents of the village of Volzhsky, the church was returned to the believers. The complete restoration was finished in 1996, and on July 28 of the same year, the church was consecrated again by Bishop Sergey of Samara and Syzran.

The Church of the Nativity of Christ is associated with the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup," built in 2002 at the holy spring on the other side of Tsarev Kurgan. A healing spring has been flowing at the foot of the kurgan since ancient times, and its historical name is unknown. By the blessing of Archbishop Sergey, it was named after the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup" to help those suffering from alcoholism.

Local residents recount that before the revolution, there was a wooden chapel at the spring, which was burned down. During the reconstruction of the spring, the wooden foundation of the chapel was discovered.

On October 12, 1999, Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and all Russia visited the temple during his trip to the Samara region. He blessed the chapel project at the spring near Tsarev Kurgan and the installation of a 15-meter cross on the kurgan in honor of the 2000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ.

On September 27, 2000, on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Archbishop Sergey consecrated a 15-meter gilded cross weighing about three tons, which was installed at the top of Tsarev Kurgan with the help of a helicopter.

According to legend, Tsarev Kurgan got its name after Peter the Great rested here during his campaign to Derbent and admired the surroundings. He carved an inscription on a stone slab at the top of the kurgan: "Peter I, year 1722 from the Birth of Christ." In 1768, Empress Catherine II visited the kurgan accompanied by Grigory Orlov-Davydov.

At the spring, in addition to the stone church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup," a baptistery and a bell tower have been built. Two baptismal fonts have been equipped at the spring, where anyone can immerse themselves in the healing water.
