Church of the Nativity of Christ in Shchekotovo

Фото 1
The church was built in 1803 with funds from the parishioners. It is a single-domed stone building with a tiered bell tower. In the 19th century, its walls were painted, and in 1912, the paintings were restored. The church has two altars: one in the summer church in honor of the Nativity of Christ, and the other in the winter church in honor of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. Three crosses containing relics of saints were held in special veneration. There was also a stone chapel in the village, built in 1900, but it has not survived. A church parish school operated at the church. Since 1950, the building has been used as a grain storage facility. Currently, it is in a state of neglect.
