Church of the Nativity of Christ in Kochury Village

Фото 1
In the small village of Kochury in the Miloslavsky district, there is a restored Church of the Nativity of Christ, built in the 19th century with funds from local residents. This is the only landmark of the village, reminding of its prosperous past. In 1926, the church was looted and closed, and then used for economic needs.

Over 90 years, the church fell into disrepair and almost completely lost its architectural appearance. The revival of the church began only in March 2016 thanks to private funds. The initiators of the restoration were Vera Zinovyeva, her brother Alexander Marukhin, and daughter Victoria, who invested their own money into the project. They organized the work of specialists and monitored the restoration and improvement of the church. The residents of the small and not wealthy village enthusiastically helped in the restoration of the church. The complete restoration of the church took three years. On November 13, 2017, the chapel of the church was consecrated, and on December 20, 2019, the main altar. The church is now reopened for parishioners, and daily services are held there.
