Polkhovo Maidan is a village located 10 km southwest of the district center in the Voznesensky district. Its name is associated with the method of slash-and-burn agriculture, where a forest plot was burned for arable land, known as a maidan. Here, the craft of wood painting using aniline dyes originated and developed. In Polkhovo Maidan, there is a monument of urban planning and architecture, the Church of the Nativity of Christ, built in 1844. The site is under state protection under number 471.
