Church of the Nativity of Christ in Pogorelka

In the village of Pogorelka stands the Church of the Nativity of Christ, built of stone. This is a parish summer church with a warm refectory, notable for its durability. The church has three altars: the main one in the cold part is dedicated to the Nativity of Christ, while in the warm refectory, to Saint Martyr Paraskeva and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The temple was erected in 1811 with funds from the parishioners. The parish has two chapels: one in the village of Babaevo, also made of stone, and the other built into the wall of the church fence, constructed in 1887.

The church owns a land plot of 36 desyatinas and 918 square fathoms. On the territory, there are three church houses: for the priest, for the psalmist, and a two-story stone lodge. The upper floor of the lodge houses a zemstvo school, while the lower floor is occupied by the zemstvo teacher and the church watchman. The church capital amounts to 8,000 rubles in securities. In the village of Pogorelka, there are 68 men and 90 women; in the villages: Falelyevo, 55 men and 65 women, Babaevo, 145 men and 170 women, Zabolotye, 125 men and 133 women, Kozhlevo, 57 men and 82 women, Yurtsino, 42 men and 43 women, Karpunino, 64 men and 70 women. The total in the parish is 556 men and 653 women.

A zemstvo school operates in the parish. The church staff consists of a priest and a psalmist, and the parish capital amounts to 3,650 rubles in securities.
