Фото 1
Panovo, a village in the Shatkovsky district, is home to the Church of the Nativity of Christ, recognized as a site of historical and cultural heritage according to the order of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000. The church dates back to 1862. However, order No. 5-OD, based on which the church was included in the heritage list, lost its validity on October 20, 2014, according to order No. 159. According to the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904, the warm altar of the church is consecrated in honor of the Nativity of Christ.

The village also has another stone church built in 1782. It has two chapels: a cold one dedicated to the icon of Our Lady of Kazan and one to Saint Alexander Nevsky.
