Three versts from Ulyanovsk, downstream of the Sviyaga River, lies the village of Mostovaya Sloboda. The reason for its name is unknown. In 1648, residents from the village of Fedorovsky in the Kazan district settled here, receiving 1472 desyatinas of land for farming and 393 desyatinas for haymaking for 100 people.

By the time of the general land survey in 1783, the village had 88 households, with 286 men and 286 women living there. The land area comprised 3730 desyatinas and 1062 sazhen. Currently, there are 247 households, with a population of 667 men and 738 women. The residents engage not only in agriculture but also in gardening and horticulture. The village is located at the foot of a mountain, which is a continuation of the elevation on which Ulyanovsk stands. The western slope of this mountain is covered with apple orchards, occupying almost 100 desyatinas.

The first church in Mostovaya Sloboda was built in 1651 and dedicated to the Nativity of Christ. In its place, in 1804, the plow soldiers, with the blessing of the Kazan Archbishop Seraphim, erected a small stone church of the same dedication. Due to the rapid population growth, the church was completely rebuilt and significantly expanded in 1891, costing about 8,000 rubles. A school in the village opened in 1891.
